User Experience Design Consulting
User experience is not about how a product works on the inside. It is about how it works on the outside, where a person comes into contact with it and has to work with it"

Usability LAB
EVI is setting up a usability lab to observe and capture live user interaction with an online product. The usability lab is facilitated with the following tools:
Observation Tools
These are used to collate data from sources like keyboard input, video, user behavior and mobile phones. The data thus collected is used to describe user interaction and behavior in a quantitative way.
Eye tracker
We use mobile and computer monitor eye trackers to track the eye movement of the user during interaction with the graphical user interfaces. This device generates heat-maps and help in analyzing errors, difficulties and navigational flaws encountered by tracking test person eye's movement. It gives a complete video of the test person's view with data for blinks, gaze position and fixations.
Usability Test Process
- 15-20 users are recruited to get more accurate results.
- This method uses softwares for screen sharing, for voice recording and for video recording of each user and their activities.
- The process starts with designing workflows (based on actual user scenarios) to be tested, along with questions or pointers to be made in each workflow.
- A facilitator sits with the user in the testing area to help the user go through all the workflows that need to be tested.
- This activity is monitored by the observer sitting away from the user and facilitator and make notes of all the problem areas.
- A report is prepared which captures the observations made during the above process.
